When hearing the word art what comes to mind for me is music, dance, paintings, murals, sculptures, movies, and beauty. We all have different opinions about how we view art. I believe that we can relate to the different forms or styles of art in many ways. Anytime I see an artwork, I glance at the artwork and i give a feedback as to what stood out the most. When I think of art what comes to mind is Frida Kahlo, movies, music, murals, or paintings from museums like chicano park.
To start off art has many unique forms and styles just like the way Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera made their paintings. When looking at paintings that Frida made in my opinion I can tell that she paints what she sees and not things or situations that are illusions or just dreams. In her self-portraits she paints the way she views herself and she shows her view of what beauty is for her just like in the portrait of her with cropped hair. In that painting in my opinion she is showing that, that is how she wants to be. Also just like in her portrait of “The wounded deer” she shows what she went through when having the bus accident that left her right and foot and leg crushed and not also that, but her spine. Diego rivera also has some amazing artwork that shows the mexican culture and history. “The history of Mexico Mural” shows how worker in Mexico were being treated. Just like as well in the painting “The flower carrier” and what I love most about the painting is the use of colors and how the painting just really drew my attention to it with all the details.
Not only are paintings a form of art. Movies have amazing pictures or stories being told. Just like the many movies that have won best pictures. My favorite movies are Forrest Gump, Rocky, The pursuit of Happiness, and many more. I consider Forrest Gump, Rocky, and The pursuit of Happiness some of my favorite movies because of the story that is being told. A new movie that came out in two thousand eighteen called “Roma” was another one of my favorite movies because it illustrates life like in Mexico from the 1970s. Any movies that tell a story, meaning, or talk about history are the ones that grab my attention.
When looking at any artwork or listen to music I feel that I can relate to certain art works or music. Not only can I relate to them but like how it can grab your attention. For example when I went to Chicano Park for the first time last year in march there were murals that really caught my eye. For example, “The Farmers mural” because I like the use of colors and in my opinion the way it shows that the farmers working on the land. I also liked the mural “La Revolucion Mexicana” because of how it is done in black and white because it shows the look of old photography and how there weren’t images with color back in the day. Another mural that really caught my attention was “Los Grandes”because when I saw that mural for the first time it stood out because of the way they made the artists Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros look with the colors used.
In conclusion, we all have our own opinions as to when it comes to art. When hearing the word art I think of paintings,murals, music, movies, ect. Not all of us are into the same types or styles of art. Just like how we can have different tastes or liking in music. I know that if I’m into 80s music not many other people will be into that.
